Talking About Tigers

 

It’s tiger time at the Safari Park! The new Tiger Trail opens on May 24. Here’s a bit about our tigers to help you get to know them.

 

Teddy is our biggest tiger, a 10-year-old male who likes to tear up his enrichmentEnrichment is an important part of animal care. It is made up of the many ways in which keepers provide zoo animals with opportunities to do something with their time, giving the animal mental stimulation and physical exercise. Conrad and Thomas are 2-year-old brothers, but like different things. Conrad wants to wrestle and play, while Thomas is patient but not quiet: he "talks" the most of all the tigers with his growls and chuffs, grunts and puffs. He always has something to say!

 

Delta is the 16-year-old queen of the Park tigers. She is mother to all of the others except Teddy. She takes very good care of her cubs, and is trusting of her keepers. Joanne and Majel are sisters, but the three year olds have their own personalities. Joanne is the smaller sister but is the boss, and Majel is very sensitive and can be dramatic.
